Correct Answer!
There are many sites throughout the U.S where the flood of record has occurred within the last 10 years. The Red River of the North cited in the lesson is an example. Each new flood of record is larger than the old flood of record. Forecasting procedures and techniques should address floods of magnitude much higher than the flood of record and much higher than the 100 yr flood. Rating curves, however, do not extend beyond the flood of record. This makes forecasting for very large floods difficult. Lesson 7 will discuss the associated issues.
